### The Tempest Today: A Masquerade Edition

In the eye of the storm, where shadows wail,

Ariel dances lightly, weaving through the gale.

Draped in a mask of moonlight, she calls to the sky,

“Awake, O humanity! It’s time to unify!”

Miranda, in a gown of autumn leaves, stands near,

In the shadows of turmoil, she holds back her fear.

“Contentment,” she murmurs, “is found in the heart,

Not in treasures of gold, nor in worlds torn apart.”

*(And definitely not in a haunted house full of ghosts!)*

Prospero, the magician, with wisdom profound,

Wears a cloak of starlight, feeling the earth tremble ‘round.

“Control is an illusion,” he sighs with a frown,

“As we battle the elements, we’re all wearing a crown.”

*(And let’s not forget the masks—who knew they’d be so heavy?)*

Caliban, dressed as a creature from lore,

Cries out to the land, “Nature is our mother; together we soar!

In the valleys of unity, let us find our way,

For the tempest outside reflects the tempest today.”

*(And if anyone tries to take my candy, they’ll regret it!)*

### Enter the Masquerade

*(As the storm rages, a group of masked revelers appears, each character more whimsical than the last: a ghostly pirate, a mischievous fairy, and a wise old owl.)*

**Ghostly Pirate:** *(with a dramatic flair)*

“Arrr, mateys! Who dares to tread on these haunted shores?

With treasure to find and spirits to implore!”

*(But first, let’s find some grog—this storm has me parched!)*

**Mischievous Fairy:** *(twirling in the air)*

“Fear not, dear friends, for magic is near,

Let’s sprinkle some pixie dust and banish all fear!”

*(Just don’t ask me to clean up after the party!)*

**Wise Old Owl:** *(perched on a branch)*

“Whooo are you, to seek wisdom in fright?

In the heart of the tempest, there’s always a light.”

*(And perhaps a good book—who doesn’t love a good read on Halloween?)*

The oceans are rising, the skies filled with dread,

Yet hope flickers softly, like dreams in our head.

With each wave that crashes, with each tree that falls,

We must heed the call of the earth’s anguished calls.

*(And maybe share some candy while we’re at it!)*
